Cessation of Programme

Where a school is proposing to permanently cease running a PG programme (PG Certificate, PG Diploma, Taught Masters), approval for this course of action must be sought and gained from the School Executive and the Dean of Faculty prior to the recommendation being submitted to the Graduate Studies Committee and subsequently to University Council for approval.  Programmes which have been discontinued in this way will no longer appear in the University of Dublin Calendar Part III.
Prior to commencing the cessation of PG programme process, Course Directors must ensure that candidates who may have taken an exit award with the intention to resume to complete the higher award within 5 years will not be disadvantaged by the proposed cessation.  The Office of the Dean of Graduate Studies therefore recommends that any programme considering permanent cessation initially suspends intake (see above) for four academic years and only then activates the permanent cessation.

Please use the Cessation of Programmes form available here.  The completed form should then be submitted to the Dean of Graduate Studies (Dean.GradSecretary@tcd.ie) for presentation to the Graduate Studies Committee.

Suspension of Course

Suspension of Postgraduate Taught programmes (P.Grad Cert., P.Grad Dip., M.Phil., M.Sc.)
Where a school is proposing to suspend intake on a postgraduate programme, approval for this course of action must be sought and gained from the Dean of Faculty.
Please use the Suspension of programmes form available here. The completed form should then be submitted to the PG admissions activity lead in the Academic Registry (academic.registry@tcd.ie) and to the Dean of Graduate Studies (Dean.GradSecretary@tcd.ie) as early in the application and admissions cycle as possible.
