Dutch

Trinity College Dublin was founded in 1592. The Chair of German was founded in 1776, making it the oldest in the world. In 1990 a Dutch section was established within the Department of Germanic Studies.
TCD is the only university in Ireland to teach Dutch not just on an elementary level but as an integrated part of a degree programme,and provides thus the most extensive academic programme of Dutch in Ireland. It is an optional component of the Two Subject Moderatorship course .
