Module Learning Aims:
This module is designed to demonstrate the value of a holistic approach by combining all the different specialist aspects of geology and applying them to unravelling the evolution of a familiar part of the lithosphere, namely Ireland.
Module Content:
The geological development of Ireland from the Precambrian to the Cainozoic is studied in outline.
Learning outcomes:
On successful completion of this module students should be able to:
• relate the main features of the geological history of Ireland to the main principles of tectonics, sedimentation, magmatism and metamorphism
