Dr Robbie Goodhue – Senior Experimental Officer

Robbie Goodhue

Name: Robbie Goodhue

Research Profile

My research follows several lines which stem both from my doctorate (1996) and my more recent role in the Geochemistry Laboratory. I am particularly interested in the behaviour of organic matter and clay minerals during heating, and, the study of building materials and their impact on the structure and the indoor environment. I use various analytical methods in my research including optical microscopy, x-ray diffraction, x-ray fluorescence and isotope ratio mass spectrometry.

Current Research and Research Opportunities

I currently supervise one postgraduate student in Geology and am a collaborative supervisor on two further projects within Geology and one in Botany.

Teaching

At Geology Junior Sophister level, I teach a small component of the modules GL3304 Isotopes and Analytical Techniques and GL4401 Organic Petrology, Palynology and Palaeobotany. In Environmental Science Junior Sophister level, I teach half of GL3333 Stable Isotopes & Groundwater Quality module. At MSc Level I teach a component of the ES7041 Environmental Chemical Analysis module. Finally, I teach a small part of the School of Engineering’s Graduate Diploma in Building Conservation and Design.
