Financial support

The College offers two types of postgraduate award; Postgraduate Research Studentships and Postgraduate Ussher Fellowships. The former teaching-linked grants include a waiver of the full EU or non-EU fee and an annual maintenance grant of €8,000 for up to three years on the PhD register. The latter awards are unrelated to teaching, fully cover EU or non-EU fees and provide an annual maintenance grant of €16,000 for three years on the PhD register.

Applications for both awards are made on the same application form available from gradinfo@tcd.ie.

Other potential sources of funding include IRCSET (link) (The Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering & Technology), Science Foundation Ireland (link) (via the SFI research Frontiers Programme) and Industry.
