Naughton Fellowship PhD award

Congratulations to former TCD Geology undergraduate Eoghan Corbett, who has been awarded a highly prestigious Naughton Fellowship to fund a Ph.D. jointly supervised by Dr. Quentin Crowley at TCD Geology and Prof. Tony Simonetti at the University of Notre Dame’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences. Only one of these postgraduate fellowships is awarded per year to an Irish student. The Naughton program “facilitates broad cross-cultural training for exceptional students with leadership potential in select fields, stimulates collaborative research among the engineers and scientists who train these students, and forges deeper and stronger ties between the host institutions and countries”. Eoghan’s Ph.D. project will focus on refinement of high spatial resolution U-Pb geochronological methodologies.
