Erasmus Programmes

Thinking of studying at a university abroad as part of your Trinity degree programme?

The Geography Department has EU-Erasmus programme arrangements with the following universities:

France: University of Paris (Sorbonne); University of Bordeaux.
UK: University of Exeter.
Sweden: Stockholm University.
Netherlands: Utrecht University.

Please also see EU Erasmus outgoing exchanges, International Office, Trinity College Dublin.

Qualifications to go abroad

  • A student in good standing (2:2, 2:1 or I for their freshman year)
  • Knowledge of working language (although many classes taught in English)

Procedure

Applications are made in February. The Geography department has pink forms for those who are interested in applying to go abroad to one of the programs above. Forms can also be picked up from the International Office. Fill out this form thoroughly and submit it to Dr. Raleigh in Geography in a timely manner.

The pink form is then submitted to the International Office at TCD. They will acknowledge the student's request, which will allow students to apply for funding to go abroad. You must return this pink form in order to be considered for EU funding for the Erasmus exchange. If you are an acceptable candidate, you will then contact Dr. Raleigh who will send you the contact information for the University Officer in your potential exchange. You must get in contact with the prospective receiving institution for details of available courses, application dates and procedures and accommodation. That person will provide an application for you, which you must fill out and return to the foreign school. They will then guide you through the process in their school.

Notes

  • Exchanges can be for one semester or one year.
  • Places are limited in each exchange.
  • You must undertake a course of at least 45 ECTS credits while abroad.
