Financial Support

The University offers two classes of postgraduate awards which are available only to full-time students registered, or intending to register for, research leading to a Ph.D.

RESEARCH AWARDS FOR NEW ENTRANTS TO RESEARCH REGISTER
To promote excellence in all disciplines in College:

1. POSTGRADUATE RESEARCH STUDENTSHIPS
The studentship offers a waiver of the full EU or non-EU fee and an annual maintenance of €8,000 for up to three on the PhD register. The studentship is linked to the requirement of a maximum 6 hour teaching per week.

2. POSTGRADUATE USSHER FELLOWSHIP
The fellowship is unrelated to teaching, fully covers EU and non-EU fees and provides an annual maintenance of €16,000 for three years on the PhD register.

In order to be considered for a research award, new entrants should complete the relevant section on the general Research Application Form. New applicants are advised to submit their application as early as possible. You may apply for both awards on the same form.
