PIYRA Research Fellowships
School of Genetics and Microbiology, Trinity College Dublin
The School of Genetics and Microbiology at Trinity College Dublin will support two
applications to Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) for a President of Ireland Young
Investigator Award (PIYRA). Applications are invited for any field of research relevant
to the areas of genetics and microbiology.
PIYRA is s most prestigious award aimed at recruiting young researchers currently
based around the world to carry out their research in third level institutions in Ireland.
Successful PIYRA applicants receive their salary and research funding for 5 years up to a
total value of €1 million. Trinity College will advertise a permanent post in the research
area of the SFI PIYRA awardee, not less than 2 years before the normal expiration of the
award. Candidates should acquaint themselves with the PIYRA application conditions,
especially the eligibility requirements that are available at www.sfi.ie. Applicants must
have received a PhD within the past 8 years and have a minimum of 36 months active
postdoctoral research. Note that SFI funding schemes are subject to change and this
advert is based on the current PIYRA guidelines as on 1st July 2012.
Candidates should submit by Email, a single PDF file containing their curriculum vitae,
a 2-page description of their future research program and a 1-page description of a 10-
lecture course they would present to final year undergraduate genetics or microbiology

will be informed before 21st September 2012.
