Melissa K. Shaddix, B.A. (Florida, USA), M.F.A. (Vancouver)

Melissa studied literature, composition, and philosophy at Stetson University and was awarded a B.A. degree (Hons.) in 2004. At the University of British Columbia, she studied regional American fiction, screenwriting, and poetics, graduating with an M.F.A. degree in 2007. She is currently writing her Ph.D. dissertation tentatively titled "The Church Without the Church: Desert Orthodoxy in Flannery O'Connor's South." She has lectured on Southern culture and literature in the M.Phil. program, The Literature of the Americas, in 2010 and 2011.
