Structural Engineering PhD student is this year's Fulbright-CRH Awardee in Engineering and Business Studies

Mairéad Ní Choine, a PhD student under the supervision of Dr. Alan O’Connor in the Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering at Trinity College Dublin, was recently awarded the Fulbright-CRH Award in Engineering and Business Studies.  Mairéad will undertake research in the area of seismic design and retrofit of deteriorating bridges at Rice University, Texas. Mairéad will employ probabilistic principles to determine optimal retrofit strategies for older bridges while taking deterioration into account.
