TCD Engineering Alumni Lunch 2012
24 May 2012
TCD Engineering hosted the first Engineering Alumni Lunch in the 1592 restaurant on the 4th May 2012. Mike Peirce, the Chairman of the Trinity Engineering Advisory Board and also an alumnus of the Engineering School, attended along with other members of the Board, Brian Caulfield, another alumnus, and Chris O’Dea. Graduates from as far back as 1947 attended the lunch which turned out to be a most enjoyable event.
The after-lunch speech was given by Professor Anil Kokaram, an academic from the Engineering School, who recently sold his company Green Parrot Pictures to Google. Anil is currently working in Google in California and travelled to Dublin especially for the event. He spoke about his research, winning an Academy Award and the sale of his company. He complimented the School and TCD for providing a stimulating environment for him and his researchers and for the quality of research the School produces.
After lunch, those attending walked to the Simon Perry Building for the unveiling of a naming plaque on the building by Chris O’Dea, a good friend of Simon’s and MD of Techcrete who sponsored the plaque.
