Paraic Carroll presents at the workshop for EPA funded projects

Researchers from the Department of Civil, Structural, and Environmental Engineering, working on a number of projects funded by the Environmental Protection Agency, held a workshop on 7th December addressing methods of promoting sustainability in the fields of transport, energy, and consumer goods. The workshop featured presentations form Dr William Brazil on the role of eco-labels in consumer choices, and Dr Vincent Carragher on drivers of sustainable transitions, while Paraic Carroll outlined methods of promoting car shedding. Presentations were followed by a panel discussion chaired by Dr Sarah McCormack and Dr Brian Caulfield, with experts from industry and government, as well as members of the general public engaging with the research teams on the issues. A number of very interesting discussion points were raised exploring the barriers to sustainable consumption and the transition opportunities that are arising.
