| Contact hours p/w : | 2 labs |
| Assessment : | Coursework |
| Description : | (part 1): Each lab group will be required to produce a design for light rail vehicle to carry a standard can over a standard track including two inclines, a bridge and a curve. They may use AutoCAD to produce their drawings if they wish. The designs will be constructed and the best will be selected for the finals of a competition to be organised in Trinity term (part 2): Each lab group will be required to produce a design for a bridge to carry a light rail vehicle over a set span. The designs may be drawn in AutoCAD if desired. Each group will construct a model bridge, which will be tested statically in a class session and the best of these will be entered into the competition in Trinity term. (part 3): The students will be given a descriptive specification of a task for which an electronic circuit is required. They will then be expected to use the material learned in the 2E6 Electronics course to conceive and design the circuit required. This will then be simulated using a circuit simulation CAD package and the final design will be constructed on breadboard and tested. |
