School leavers and other potential undergraduate students seeking information about the Engineering course are recommended to visit the College's Admissions Office pages.

Course Objective

The object of the degree course is to produce designers who are adaptable and will learn readily new approaches, applications and techniques, that is, engineers who have a broad-based understanding of discipline in addition to a detailed knowledge of their chosen specialism. The aim is that graduates ought to be able to train themselves and to adapt and move into related areas as their career develops. To achieve this, students are given a good grounding in the basic principles and introduced to the variety of engineering subjects before they specialise. The degree is fully accredited for professional purposes.

The Freshman Years

The first year serves to consolidate the study of mathematical and physical sciences. The student is introduced to the various facets of engineering through the course and laboratory work. In the second year, the subjects basic to all engineering disciplines are studied and, at the end of the year, students select the broad branch of engineering in which he or she wishes to specialise.
