Youcef Sai

Thesis Title: Perspectives of teachers and parents towards Islamic religious education in Ireland: An ethnographic study of two Muslim Irish national schools

Youcef Sai


Youcef graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Studies and a postgraduate diploma in IT from DCU. He also studied Arabic and Islamic studies at the Institut Européen des Sciences Humaines (IESH) in France where he also graduated with a degree in Islamic Jurisprudence.

Youcef lived in the UAE for many years, where he continued studying Arabic and Islamic sciences under traditional Islamic scholarship. During his time there, he taught English, Business Studies and Islamic studies at secondary level. In 2010, he completed his MA in TESOL from UCD and he has since then worked as an ESL instructor at the International College of Technology (ICOT) in Dublin.

Youcef is currently in the second year of his PhD.

Research Interests: Religious education, pedagogy, language learning.
