Applicants for a research degree should normally have obtained a 2.1 honors degree.
The Master in Letters (M.Litt.) research degree may be taken full time (1 years) or part time (3 years). After 2 years on the M.Litt. register students may apply to transfer to the Ph.D. register should their work be of suitable standard. Regulations for this procedure can be found on the Graduate Studies Website.
There are only two registration periods (September and March) for degrees by research and applicants are advised to apply as early as possible prior to their chosen registration period as supervisory capacity may be limited. Click here for Application Information.
The School of Education strongly advises those considering application to consult informally with members of the School in relation to their research proposal, in advance of a formal application to the Dean of Graduate Studies. Please see our Research Staff page for more details.
