How to submit an essay

Submission deadline: Friday, 22 February, 2013.

Before submitting an essay

  • Download the essay template first, and write your essay according to it
  • Read the referencing instuctions. Submitted essays that do not follow these instructions will be sent back or disregarded.
  • Essays are marked anonymously, so do not include your name anywhere in the document itself.
  • Bear in mind that essays should, ideally, be below 2500 words, but essays of up to 3000 words may be accepted. If an essay exceeds this, it will have to be edited before being considered for publication.
  • Make sure that you have included your phone number (so that we can contact you for editing purposes if necessary) and college standing (JF/SF/JS/SS/Socrates).
  • The Student Economic Review reserves the right to edit submissions for style, grammar, spelling, profanity or factual errors.

Submitting your essay

Essays must be submitted through turnitin.com.

To submit an essay, follow the steps below:

If you are not yet a member

  1. go to turnitin.com
  2. click on new users on the top right hand corner
  3. select student from the drop down menu and click on next
  4. enter the following information on the next screen:
    Class ID:
    6062657
    Password:
    SER2013
  5. enter your official TCD email address
  6. choose a secure password
  7. choose a secret question
  8. enter first and last name
  9. read user agreement carefully and accept conditions
  10. log in (at www.turnitin.com ) using your email address and chosen password
  11. Enter the class SER Essays and click on the submit icon beside the assignment "SER 2013 essay submission"
  12. Upload the essay and submit it
  13. If you are submitting multiple essays, please submit in the folders available for subsequent essays (Submision for 2nd/3rd essays etc).

If you are already a member

Turnitin.com will not let you create a new account if you already have one. For example, this should apply to all students who did PO1610 Introduction to Political Science course with Dr. Jacqueline Hayden.

  1. Skip steps 1. - 10.
  2. log in (at www.turnitin.com ) using your email address and chosen password
  3. once you log in, click on the enrol in a class button an enter the following details:
    Class ID:
    6062657
    Password:
    SER2013
  4. Follow steps 11., 12. and 13. above.

If you forgot your password, click on forgot your password link, and enter your email address and a secret question. If you forgot your secret question, too, there is a link on which you can click and have the password resent to you.

After submitting your essay

We will contact you upon receiving your submission. Please contact us if you don't hear from us within three days.
