Introduction

Each year Trinity College's Department of Economics and School of Education hosts a series of Millennium Development Goal lectures. The purpose of the series is to promote awareness and debate of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The talks feature leading experts from a range of backgrounds including NGOs, government, academia, UN organisations and the media. The lecture series provides a forum for the discussion of development issues.

The Trinity MDG lecture series was first established in 2004 by the Department of Economics in Trinity College, Dublin. The Economics Department (in conjunction with the Education Department) successfully applied for a Development Education Grant in 2004 and 2005 to support the programme. This lecture series is made possible with support from the Government of Ireland's programme of assistance to developing countries, Irish Aid.

Details of the current lecture series can be found in this section as well as an archive of past lectures.

All lectures are free and open to the general public. All lectures are held in the Arts Block,  Trinity College Dublin.
