Summer Opportunities Night Volunteer Fair
November 16 2009
The 2009 Summer Opportunities Night held on the evening of November 16th was a collaboration between the Civic Engagement Office and the Trinity Volunteer Opportunities Forum (TVOF). The turn-out of over 250 students exceeded expectations and is testament to the appetite of the student body for voluntary work. An average of 36 students expressed interest in working with each organisation. Community organisations commented on the positive attitude and enthusiasm of students to get involved and expressed an interest in developing their relationship with Trinity College Dublin further.
The feedback from community organisations indicated that the event was hugely valuable from their perspective while the numbers of sign-ups to these organisations would indicate that students too took a lot from the event. A word of appreciation is due to those organisations, their volunteers and representatives for participating in the event and welcoming TCD students into their organisations. The work of TVOF students in the preparation, delivery and follow up (in particular, through the creation of a mailing list) of the 2009 Summer Opportunities fair also deserves thanks and acknowledgement.
An information booklet giving profiles of the voluntary organisations in attendance was available on the night. You can download the information booklet here (DOC, 155KB).
