Trinity Courses Show Strong Demand in CAO Applications for 2013

This year 8,037 students selected Trinity College Dublin as their first preference in their CAO applications. This is the second year in a row that the university has hit the 8,000 mark and is an historic record for Trinity. A total of 17,877 students applied to Trinity College representing 25% of the total number of applications submitted to CAO.
Courses that show a marked increase in first preference applications are: Nanoscience, Physics and Chemistry of Advanced Materials up 68%; Engineering with Management (+25%); Computer Science (+16%); MSISS (+10%): Science (+10%) and Human Genetics (+7%).
Similarly increases have been seen in Music (+9%); Philosophy (+16%); Clinical Speech & Language Studies (+26%); European Studies (+17%); Physiotherapy is also up 7% as are the majority of courses in Nursing.
Trinity’s Dean of Undergraduate Studies, Dr Patrick Geoghegan welcomed the demand for its university courses from prospective students:“It demonstrates the distinctive Trinity education that is being offered, based on a research-led curriculum that develops students’ independent and critical thinking skills needed for a modern world.”
