Oct 17, 2007

To mark the European Year of Equal Opportunity for All 2007, Irish universities are organizing a photo competition to celebrate and raise awareness on diversity and equality issues. The theme is ‘Changing Perspectives: Equality and Diversity in my University’.

“The competition has been organised by Equality personnel and Students’ Unions in all seven universities,” explained Karen Campos, TCD Equality Officer, “We hope to increase awareness, stimulate debate and to emphasise the positive contribution that all people, irrespective of their sex, racial or ethnic origin, religion or belief, disability, age or sexual orientation, can make to society as a whole.”

The judges will be looking for individual and original perspectives on the diversity of College everyday life. You do not have to be a professional to enter - all you need is a camera and some creative flair. The competition is open to all staff with a separate student category, and will award local and national prizes. The national inter-university top prize is €1,300 and finalists will appear in a special edition 2008 calendar.

For full details, competition regulations and entry form, please visit the equality office websitehttp://www.tcd.ie/equality. The deadline for entries is 31 October 2007.
