Clár Toghthóirí Sheanad Éireann do Thoghlach Ollscoil Átha Cliath

The result of the Referendum held on 4 October 2013 was a vote in favour of retaining Seanad Éireann.  Currently three members of Seanad Éireann are elected from the University of Dublin constituency and three from the National University of Ireland constituency. The Government has announced the intention to legislate for a combined single six-seat constituency to be elected by graduates from all institutions.

All graduates of the University of Dublin admitted to a degree of this University, who are Irish citizens, are eligible to register as University Electors. If you are in this category, you are encouraged to ensure that you are included on the electoral register.

The register is published annually on June 1st.  The last day for adding new names in any year is February 26th.  If you wish to be added to the register, please fill in the Form of Claim and return to Academic Registry, University of Dublin, Trinity College, Dublin 2 or email duseanad@tcd.ie.

If you are already a registered Elector, you may update your details at any time by completing the online form or by emailing the Academic Registry at duseanad@tcd.ie.

In order to maximise our contribution and ensure the views of Trinity College graduates in the University of Dublin constituency are heard, it is important that you avail of your right to participate in this democratic process.

The contribution of the 22 members of Seanad Éireann elected in the University of Dublin constituency since 1938 has been very noteworthy and a short summary of those contributions is available here. The members of Seanad Éireann representing the University of Dublin constituency will continue to have an important part to play in the Oireachtas.  This is a voice that should continue to be heard in the coming years.

Further details on the Seanad Electoral Register are available from the Trinity website.

Clár Toghthóirí Sheanad Éireann do Thoghlach Ollscoil Átha Cliath

Ba é toradh na vótála sa Reifreann a tionóladh an 4 Deireadh Fómhair 2013 ná Seanad Éireann a choimeád. Faoi láthair, toghtar triúr comhaltaí ó thoghlach Ollscoil Átha Cliath agus triúr ó thoghlach Ollscoil na hÉireann. Tá sé fógartha ag an Rialtas go bhfuil sé beartaithe reachtaíocht a dhéanamh do thoghlach comhcheangailte amháin ina mbeidh sé shuíochán le toghadh ag céimithe na n-institiúidí go léir.

Beidh gach céimí de chuid Ollscoil Átha Cliath ar a bronnadh céim ón Ollscoil seo, ar saoránaigh de chuid na hÉireann iad, incháilithe clárú ina dToghthóirí Ollscoile. Má tá tusa sa chatagóir sin, moltar duit a chinntiú go bhfuil tú san áireamh ar chlár na dtoghthóirí.

Foilsítear an clár gach bliain ar 1 Meitheamh. An 26 Feabhra an lá deiridh le hainmneacha nua a chur leis an gclár i mbliain ar bith. Más mian leat d’ainm a chur leis an gclár, líon isteach an Fhoirm Éilimh agus seol ar ais chuig an gClárlann Acadúil, Ollscoil Átha Cliath, Coláiste na Tríonóide, Baile Átha Cliath 2 í, nó seol ar ríomhphost chuig duseanad@tcd.ie í.

Má tá tú cláraithe i do thoghthóir cheana féin, féadfaidh tú do chuid mionsonraí a nuashonrú ag am ar bith tríd an bhfoirm ar líne a chomhlánú nó trí ríomhphost a sheoladh chuig an gClárlann Acadúil ag duseanad@tcd.ie.

D’fhonn ár gcuid rannpháirtíochta a uasmhéadú agus lena chinntiú go cloisfear dearcthaí chéimithe Choláiste na Tríonóide i dtoghlach Ollscoil Átha Cliath, tá sé tábhachtach go mbainfidh tú leas as do cheart a bheith páirteach sa phróiseas daonlathach seo.

Is díol suntais mór é rannchuidiú na 22 chomhalta de chuid Seanad Éireann a toghadh i dtoghlach Ollscoil Átha Cliath ó 1938 agus tá achoimre ghearr ar an rannchuidiú seo le léamh anseo. Beidh ról tábhachtach san Oireachtas i gcónaí ag comhaltaí Sheanad Éireann ar ionadaithe iad ar thoghlach Ollscoil Átha Cliath. Ba chóir go mbeadh an guth sin le cloisteáil i gcónaí sna blianta amach romhainn.

Tá tuilleadh mionsonraithe faoi Chlár Toghthóirí an tSeanaid ar fáil ar láithreán gréasáin Choláiste na Tríonóide.
