Feb 03, 2014
This year’s Arthur Cox studentships and the appointment of the Arthur Cox Visiting Research Fellowship were announced at an event in Trinity College Dublin’s Law School recently.
The fellowship for 2013-14, which supports research by an academic, specialist practitioner or judge, for one semester, has been accepted by Professor Fabrizio Fracchia. Professor Fracchia currently holds a Chair in the Faculty of Law in Bocconi University, Milan and has previously been a visiting scholar at the University of California, Berkeley and George Washington University. He is a very highly regarded academic in the fields of environmental and administrative law and has published widely in these areas.
Arthur Cox, which sponsors the fellowship, is also supporting six postgraduate research studentships in the School of Law and one in the School of Business. These studentships provide financial support for postgraduate research students and allow them to gain valuable teaching experience associated with large undergraduate modules such as company law, the Irish legal system, private law remedies and legislation and regulation.
The Head of the Law School at Trinity, Professor Hilary Biehler, commented: “The Law School is most grateful to Arthur Cox for its continuing generous support of the Visiting Research Fellowship and Studentships. The holders of the Arthur Cox Studentships are making an important contribution both to undergraduate teaching and to academic life within the School and have enabled it to enhance its provision of training in practical legal skills.”
Managing Partner of Arthur Cox Brian O’Gorman added: “Having well trained and educated lawyers is key to the quality of the legal profession in Ireland. We are very pleased to make this contribution to the Law School and to the School of Business.”
