Trinity Inclusive Curriculum Case Study Published
Sep 12, 2012
Trinity’s Inclusive Curriculum (TIC) strategy is the topic of a chapter in the recently published ebook ‘The Dynamic Curriculum: Shared Experiences of On-going Curricular Change in Higher Education’.
This publication compiles and documents the different experiences of seven Irish higher education institutions in the area of curriculum reform. Trinity’s chapter discusses the TIC strategy which commenced in the 2008/09 academic year and sought to promote inclusive teaching and assessment practices to respond to the College’s increasingly diverse student population.
The process of creating and compiling the book emanated from the SIF funded Dublin Regional Higher Education Alliance (DRHEA) collaboration and was based on the idea that higher education institutions can learn more by sharing experiences than they can in isolation. It was designed to initiate dialogues between colleagues. Contributions address topics such as first year assessment, accessibility, eLearning, modularisation, and the role of the university teacher to name a few. Each chapter is followed by a critical response by an expert in the area from outside the DRHEA.
