Services for staff
How we can help
The media relations team will provide assistance and support for you in all types of media engagement. We will help promote your research, teaching and successes. We also provide general advice around issues.
Provide expert comment
Would you like to give an expert view in the media or contribute to a debate on a topical issue? We can put your name forward to news organisations in response to issues of the day, email with your view and area of expertise. Sign up also for the media directory of experts to be an ongoing point of contact for the media on your area of expertise and get the facts into media.
Promoting your research and success to the media
We can promote your research, teaching and successes to the national and international media using press releases, opinion pieces, multimedia content and various social media channels. Opportunities to make the news include:
- Publishing an important research paper or study
- Expert comment
- Substantial funding grant, high profile award or honour
- New innovation or technology
- Conferences, symposia or public lectures
We will discuss the media dimension and suitability for the Trinity website. We will give a frank appraisal of how likely it is to interest a wider audience and what media would be suitable. We will ask you to provide briefing information on the ‘Who, What, Where, When & How' of the initiative. Try and get the information to us well in advance. For further details on what we will need, see media guidelines, and for case studies of press releases for different subjects see. We support media engagement through multimedia content, audio and video for online media and the Trinity website. We also increase exposure through social media channels especially twitter.
Let us know if you are about to appear in the media yourself and we can route press queries to you and pick up media coverage. If you are collaborating with another institution that is promoting your research, we can also look at the news release and promote it on Trinity website.
We can help you prepare for media interviews in print and broadcast. We will advise on media training and organise training when required. See media tips for interviews here.
We monitor media coverage for the university. We can provide you with media coverage on your research and achievements.
If you think any aspect of your work is likely to become an issue in the media, or has the potential to be misrepresented or controversial, we can advise and provide assistance.
