Policy for design and maintenance of websites

In order to ensure long-term value from the time and effort spent in designing and implementing high quality websites and Trinity branding and to ensure consistency in design and navigation for primary publicly accessible web pages in schools, faculties, departments, research institutes, administrative, support and service areas:

1. Specific sections of web pages will be designed and maintained centrally by the web design office in consultation with the functional area concerned and

2. Specific sections of web pages will be maintained and up-dated locally by the web author(s).

Maintaining your website content

It is important that the Trinity website contains accurate and up to date information that has been proofread and checked for both spelling and grammar. There are a number of supports and resources available to help you update and maintain website content including:

  • Website handover sessions
These are completed as part of website design projects by digital and enable web author(s) to get up and running quickly. The session includes basic information on editing and formatting webpages using Dreamweaver which is the standard web editing tool for Trinity. It is highly recommended that web authors complete the 'Maintaining Trinity Websites' course conducted by IT Services which gives information on website maintenance and configuration using Dreamweaver.

  • Workspace for web authors
This facility is run by digital and is focused on helping web authors who are actively working on content publishing for website (re)design projects. If you wish to book the workspace please contact digital@tcd.ie for further information.
