I studied for my B. A. in Classics in UCD before going on to do my M.A. and PhD, also in UCD. During my PhD I was awarded the UCD Ad Astra Scholarship.

Current Research

My research concentrates primarily on Greek tragedy, specifically the continued conscious awareness of the dead in the tragic Underworld and the consequential possibility of interaction between the living and the dead. My PhD concentrated on harmful interaction between the living and the dead whereby the living can avenge themselves upon the dead through the denial of burial rites and the dead may avenge themselves upon the living through the use of avenging agents. I am also interested more generally in Death Studies and am an active member of the ‘Death, Burial and Afterlife’ research strand in UCD.
