Hydrobiology Exercises I. This is a set of questions to test your ability to carry to use some basic calculations. These questions are assessed and form part of your continuous assessment mark. They must be handed into the Office at the Centre for the Environment before the end of February.

Hydrobiology Exercises II. This is the second set of questions to test your ability to carry to use some calculations routinely used in freshwater assessment. These questions also are assessed and form part of your continuous assessment mark. They must be handed into the Office at the Centre for the Environment before the end of February.

 

Practicals associated with field work

Identification of macro-invertebrates. This handout includes details about identification kyes for invertebrates and how to use them. You should also download the basic key if you have no experinece at all in this area.

River sampling. A field handout for sampling the water chemistry and biota of a river. Also carried out is the aesthetic quality rating used as part of the GQA in the UK.

Macro-invertebrate sorting I . Details of how to carry out basic sorts of material collected in the field.

Macro-ivertebrate sorting II. A more sophisticated approach to sorting and analysing your invertebrates.
