Research postgraduate courses usually last a number of years, depending on the level of qualification. The main characteristic of a research postgraduate course is that you will complete an original and independent piece of research, which may be in a specialised area related to your undergraduate degree.

Planning & Managing your Research & your Career (PhD Students)

A variety of workshops from the Planning and Managing Your Research and Your Career module for research PhD students in all disciplines will be delivered by Student Learning Development and the Careers Advisory Service this year.

They will take place on various dates throughout the term.

Information Systems Services Computer Training

In addition, IS Services run courses on Planning Thesis Production using MS Word, Effective Presentations using Powerpoint and Photoshop for Posters. Please see their schedule at www.tcd.ie/itservices/training/ for details.


This module is assessed through attending 11 of the 12 face to face workshops over the course of the PhD and completing a number of assignments. Full module details are available here.
