Working in Ireland during your Studies
Eligibility to Work
- Students from the European Economic Area (EEA) may take up employment in Ireland while studying. If you are unsure about your status, please contact the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB).
- Students from outside the EEA attending a full-time course of at least one year's duration leading to a qualification recognised by the Minister for Education and Skills are also entitled to take up employment.
- This is defined as up to 20 hours casual part-time work per week or up to 40 hours casual full-time work per week during normal college vacation periods.
Opportunities during Study
- Search the CAS vacancy section: search for all types of employment, including casual and summer internship posts (Vacwork). If you have specific language skills, related vacancies will also be advertised on the CAS vacancy section.
- Join the SU Jobs mailing list which regularly advertises part-time casual work opportunities throughout the year.
- Get involved in some of the many student societies in college.
- Remember that voluntary work is as valuable as paid work on your CV or resume: have a look at the TCD Civic Engagement website and volunteering opportunities in Ireland and abroad.
