Writing for a Younger Audience:
There is a great demand for writing in this area and this panel will examine the challenges of writing for this genre.
Tom Bidwell (MY MAD FAT DIARY), Bryan Elsley (SKINS), Melanie Stokes (KINDLE ENTERTAINMENT) and Máire Ní Chonláin (TG4) examine this challenging area of writing.
An Interview with US Showrunner, Frank Spotnitz
Frank Spotnitz (creator of HUNTED and writer and executive producer on The X-FILES) will discuss his approach to writing for TV. He is currently writing a series adapted from the TRANSPORTER hit movie franchise, and is writing and co-producing an adaptation of Philip K Dick’s THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE for Ridley Scott. He will be interviewed by screenwriter, Shane Perez.
The Journey of AMBER
AMBER is an Irish 4 part series, which has sold to US, Australian, Canadian and Scandinavian broadcasters and will be broadcast on Irish TV in January 2014 & BBC4 in April 2014. This panel examines the genesis and the journey of this TV Drama.
Writers, Rob Cawley, Paul Duane and Gary Duggan will discuss the series with Muirinn Lane Kelly.
Past guests have included Vince Gilligan, Hans Rosenfeldt and Bryan Cogman.

Developing Concepts for TV Drama
As part of the Talking TV Drama Seminar, Screen Training Ireland are offering a half-day intensive workshop for 10 pre-selected writers.
In this course, the tutor, Frank Spotnitz, will lead workshop participants through the process of developing a new drama series concept together, gaining first-hand insight into what makes a successful series and the actual experience of a writer’s room collaboration.
About the tutor:
American screenwriter, producer, and showrunner, Frank Spotnitz is best known for his work on series such as The X-FILES, or more recently, HUNTED. He co-wrote 40 episodes of The X-FILES for TV, and was the producer and co-writer of two feature films adapted from the series (The X-FILES in 1998 and X-FILES: I WANT TO BELIEVE in 2008). He is currently writing a series adapted from the TRANSPORTER hit movie franchise, and is writing and co-producing an adaptation of Philip K Dick’s THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE for Ridley Scott.
