Trinity College Dublin

Information For Academic Staff

Some of the activities which we may be able to help with include:

Working with students whom you refer to the Service

We help students and graduates choose occupational and educational options. For students with career related queries, you have two referral options:

  • Refer a student wanting a wider discussion for an individual meeting with a Careers Adviser.
Bookings can be made by email, telephone or in person. A completed 'Appointment Form' is required.
  • Students requiring career information may visit the Careers Information Centre during opening times.

Providing information on the Graduate Labour Market

We provide Graduate Labour Market Information which includes:

  • Comprehensive data on the first destinations of graduates
  • Information for Departmental Review. Please ask Linda Gaughran, for more details.
  • Reports on the state of and trends in the employment market for graduates.

For a brief overview of career related issues of interest to Schools and graduate labour market trends download the annual statistical report from the Service.

Tips on writing a student reference

The leaflet 'Writing References' is intended to meet the needs of academic staff in the College who have been asked to provide references for current and past students. It was originally written by staff at the University of London, Careers Service but has been adapted and reproduced under licence by the Careers Advisory Service at Trinity College.

In the light of recent decisions of the Information Commissioner, staff should be aware of the view of the College's Information Compliance Committee that it is not possible to give a guarantee of confidentiality to a reference author even where he or she is outside the jurisdiction of the Freedom of Information Acts.

The leaflet is restricted to TCD staff.

Marketing the College

We support the College's marketing effort to potential students with information about career prospects for Trinity College graduates. Please use Labour Market Information detailed above and see information for Prospective Students.
