Using Blackboard/WebCT at Trinity College Dublin

The Blackboard/WebCT Learning System is software that allows Academics to create and host course materials on the Internet. These materials can serve as entire online courses or, as is usually the case in Trinity, supplement traditional classroom courses.

Before you access TCD’s Blackboard/WebCT Learning System you will need to take the following steps

  1. Creating a Course
    • Academics create courses for students. Any course module can only have its corresponding online module if and when it is created by the Academic. Academics who choose to use Blackboard/WebCT will tell their students to log in once the online module is created and materials are available.
  2. If you wish to create a course space within Blackboard/WebCT, please submit a request to the Centre for Learning Technology by:
    • Using the online Module request Form
    • Email [clt@tcd.ie];
      or contact a member of our team at:
    • Phone: +353 1 896 2046
    • Phone: +353 1 896 2332
    • Phone: +353 1 896 3723
  3. Technical Requirements
    • Before you log in to the Blackboard/WebCTLearning System you need to ensure that you have satisfied the technical requirements needed to access your online courses.
