Moodle

In 2009/2010 the Centre for Learning Technology examined the open source VLE platform, Moodle, to determine its viability in supporting quality teaching and learning at Trinity College.

To test how the tools within Moodle support teaching and learning, a number of courses in the sciences and languages were taught with online support materials in Moodle from October 2009 to date.

Method

Ten lecturers were invited to teach their courses on Moodle, eight of who taught for the first semester, September 2009 to December 2009.  There were 12 modules and 850 students registered for the same period.
