Course/Module Design and Development

Lecturers can avail of guidance on the design and development of a programme or module for online or blended delivery (a mixture of face-to-face and online).  A well-designed online module or activity, underpinned by an appropriate pedagogy has the potential to introduce innovative instructional design to the curriculum and support the student in active and independent learning.

The eLearning team offers a consultancy service to lecturers.  If you would like to meet with a member of the team to discuss the use of technology in your teaching, please contact a member of the eLearning team via

Blackboard Learn

To facilitate lecturers in enhancing student learning through the use of best practices in eLearning, College uses the Virtual Learning Environment, Blackboard Learn.

Blackboard Learn facilitates the creation of interactive learning environments through the design and development of web-based courses. All teaching modules have a presence in Blackboard Learn.  See the College VLE policy.

Creating an Accessible Module

Accessible information is information provided in a clear, easy to follow format that can be accessed by those with disabilities. College has developed an information policy and guidelines which outline how you can ensure your information is accessible to all. Below are some links detailing how to create accessible documents for use in Blackboard and further details on the College accessibility policy and Blackboard's accessibility features.

Please note: modules are referred to as courses in the Blackboard Help documentation.
