Following a competitive tender exercise launched over the summer of 2010, a Cisco Internet Protocol Telephony (IPT) solution was implemented in 7-9 South Leinster St. in October 2010.
The primary difference between IPT and traditional telephony is that IPT calls are routed over the College data network rather than through a stand alone telephony system.
This project marks the first step in providing College with integrated communications technology and while IPT is currently only available in 7-9 South Leinster St., Apollo House & the Biomedical Sciences Institute it is intended that over time this new technology will be rolled out to other areas in College.
