Botany

300 Years of Growth

Discipline of Botany Today

The Botany Department has grown over the last 300 years to now accommodate nine academic staff supported by an administrator and four technicians on campus in addition to the TCD Botanic Gardens in Dartry which are maintained by two garden staff. We deliver teaching to three undergraduate moderatorships (Botany, Environmental Science and Functional Biology) and three taught masters (Biodiversity & Conservation, Environmental Science and Development Practice). The department is also very active in research. We currently supervise 44 postgraduate research students and ten post-doctoral research fellows. The average annual research income in the Department since 2000 has been 1.7 million Euros.

We invite you to explore our current activities in more detail through links to our departmental web site.
