Irish floristics and population biology

Spiranthes romanzoffiana
Spiranthes romanzoffiana, an amphi-Atlantic plant with a very limited European distribution. Recent research has examined reproductive biology, population genetics, and the phylogeography of European and North American populations.

The group also undertakes study of critical elements of the Irish flora. The standard Irish flora - 'An Irish Flora' is currently being revised for proposed publication in 2010. Other aspects of this work include the population biology and biogeography of the Irish flora, largely using molecular approaches (e.g. Eriocaulon septangulare, Saxifraga hirculus, Spiranthes romanzoffiana).
