Hydrogeology and water quality
Water is a major research theme within the School of Natural Sciences. Botany hosts the Water Technology Research Group which focuses in the areas of riverine pollution control, drinking water quality and treatment, and municipal wastewater treatment. The group has a dedicated research laboratory based in the Centre for the Environment. Apart from a wide range of specialist equipment including pilot scale reactors and activated sludge respirometers, the group works at treatment plants operated by County Councils and industry.
