Insect phenology
As ecotherms, insects are sensitive to changes in temperature, especially for their growth and development. Many bird and animal species are dependent on insects as a food source, and for pollination in plants, and it is important to understand the role climate change will play in affecting the timing of their phenology. In addition to looking at the changes in insect phenology, we propose to study the interdependencies between insects, plants and birds in order to identify any mis-matches in the timing of key phenological events. These mismatches may have implications for species survival and/or ecosystem connectivity in future.
