The School is equipped with a range of major items of equipment including a protein X-ray crystallography facility, a flow cytometry facility with five analysers and one cell sorter, a microscope facility with 3 scanning confocals one of which has STED super resolution, a spinning disk confocal, brightfield and epifluorescent microscopes and a polarized microscope, a TaqMan analyser, a DNA sequencer, sophisticated spectroscopy instruments, a molecular graphics facility, a gamma irradiator, MALDI ToF and QTRAP Mass Spectrometers and extensive cell culture and biohazard suites. The School runs a 600MHz NMR with a cryoprobe in collaboration with the School of Chemistry. This strong modern instrumentation base is primarily funded through research sources
