Research Interests

This is a cooperative study with Dr. George Dodd, (University of Warwick) and involves an investigation of the interaction of various aliphatic and aromatic isonitriles with haemoproteins, such as cytochromes found in the mitochondrial respiratory redox chain and in the neutrophil respiratory burst oxidase.

Particular interest centres around the interaction of aryl isonitriles with the NADPH oxidase of human and porcine neutrophils (i.e. the respiratory burst oxidase) because of the postulated role of this enzyme in the aetiology of rheumatoid arthritis.
