Research Interests

The genetics and biochemistry of neural tube defects in relation to folate and other vitamins.
The genetics and biochemistry of orofacial clefts.
Maternal risk of NTD in relation to status of folate or other vitamins
Homocysteine as a risk factor for cardiovascular disease
Homocysteine lowering by folic acid
Folate catabolism; the effect of diet, pregnancy and implications for the Recommended Dietary Allowances.
