Research Lecture

'Mitochondrial dynamics in cell death and survival'

Dr Julien Prudent
MRC Mitochondrial Biology Unit, University of Cambridge

Friday 19th May at 12 noon
All welcome

Julien graduated in Biochemistry from the University Claude Bernard Lyon I in Lyon, France, in 2008. He performed his Ph.D (2008-2012) in Biochemistry and Cell Biology in Pr. Germain Gillet’s laboratory at the Institute of Biology and Chemistry of Proteins (IBCP) and later at the Cancer Research Center of Lyon (CRCL). During his Ph.D, he studied the non-apoptotic functions of the Bcl-2 family of proteins linked to their role in intracellular calcium signaling regulation in zebrafish. As a post-doc in the lab of Heidi McBride he studied the relation between mitochondria-endoplasmic reticulum (ER) contacts, calcium fluxes and mitochondrial dynamics during the cell death program. In June 2016, he began his group at the MRC Mitochondrial Biology Unit (MBU) at the University of Cambridge, Cambridge, UK, studying the role of mitochondrial dynamics and inter-organellar contacts in cell survival and death.
