Final Announcement - July 2008

With just a week to the start of the EBEC 2008 conference I wish to thank all those speakers who have submitted manuscripts. We have 73 papers in the BBA-Bioenergetics/EBEC 2008 Special Issue that can be accessed at http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/issue/4898-2008-982229992-693028 and over 400 abstracts associated with the meeting that can be accessed at: http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/issue/4898-2008-982229999.8998-692918 and under EBEC Short Report Supplement on the EBEC 2008 website.

One key emphasis has been to facilitate the participation of young scientists. I am happy to state that we have over 150 postgraduate students registered for the Conference, 90 of whom have received travel grants and 13 of whom have had their abstracts raised to talks. We will also be giving prizes for the three best student posters.I also wish to direct all speakers to Information for Speakers and Chairs.

Please note that on-line registration for EBEC 2008 closed on Friday 4 July 2008, however people can still register with cash (no credit card facilities) at the Conference venue during the course of the meeting.

I also want to bring to your attention the Satellite Meeting taking place on Friday 18th July in Trinity College Dublin entitled “Quinone Binding and Catalysis”. Details of the Satellite Meeting are on the Satellite Meeting page.
